Recently I had the opportunity to photograph Gwyn and her family, whom I know through our children’s school.  I think she is a fantastic woman, and was flatted when she called upon me for her holiday photos.  (Yes! The holidays are on their way!)  She also included her business partner, Lisa, and Lisa’s family which was a treat. 

Although the weather was pretty grey, the mood was bright and we captured some great moments together.

I had such a fun adventure this past Labor Day weekend, when I drove up to L.A. to “second shoot” a wedding for Justine Ungaro.  Justine’s business is based in the D.C. area, so when she got a call to shoot a wedding at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica, she put out a call to the Digital Wedding Forum to find a So Cal photographer to shoot with her.  I was flattered that she chose me, and I really enjoyed working with her.

My friend wrote to me, this morning, and said my Auction Gala photos (from our school’s annual fundraiser) had made it to Riviera Magazine.  How fun is that? I had to take a snapshot of the page and post it!

Over the past few years, I have gotten several calls from Arizona families who are planning a vacation to San Diego and want portraits taken.  I don’t think any of these families know each other, so I think it’s always fun and interesting when I get the call!

This family stayed at a condo in Imperial Beach (which I’d never driven down to before) and we had a nice session just before sunset.  The sky was SO blue - just gorgeous.

I hate to generalize, but I think it’s safe to say… Girls LOVE getting their photos taken! These girls are probably the best example of that… Cousins born 10 days apart and very best friends who could not get enough of the camera.  Although they live several states apart, they get to spend a month together every summer, and this photo shoot was taken on their last day.  We had SO much fun…

This past Friday, I had the honor of photographing the wedding of Janine and Andy. I was referred to them by one of Janine’s bridesmaids, Vanessa, who was in a wedding I photographed last summer. Thank you, Vanessa!

Janine and Andy are a really cool couple who knew how to have fun with their day. They looked great and felt great, and were happy to enjoy the big event they had been planning for so long. I was excited to be a part of it.

The wedding ceremony took place at Sunset Cliffs, in Point Loma. It was my first time at the Cliffs and I was totally in awe of the amazing panoramic view you have of the ocean from that point. It was cloudy at first, but the sun came out for the ceremony and the colors were amazing… The golden cliffs against the big blue sky were breathtaking. The reception was held at The Thursday Club, which was also a very cool place to hold an event. I got married at La Venta Inn, in Palos Verdes Estates (in L.A. County’s South Bay) and the Thursday Club was the closest thing I have found to it in San Diego.

If you noticed on my blog, just a couple short months ago, you would have seen the post Awaiting Saoirse.  Well, she came out!! Crazy how that happens - in the tummy, then out of the tummy, then super cute and staring into the lens…

I am always flattered and grateful for referrals, as I was when Crystal called me for a maternity session.  I had photographed her best friend’s family several times, and was now invited to photograph hers! Crystal was just two weeks away from her due date, when I took the following maternity photos of her and her sweet family.  This is baby number three - the first boy, named Ryan.  Congratulations to the family and thank you for inviting me to photograph these special moments for you.  I look forward to the upcoming newborn session we have scheduled!

Saturday night, LJCDS held its annual Auction Gala to benefit the Parents’ Association.  This year’s theme was “New York, New York - Big Blue Goes Big Apple”.  As the volunteer photographer, and parent of a Torrey Kindergartner, I was proud to be a part of such a special evening. 

Next year, I’m going to find out how to dance and shoot at the same time.

It is always special to be invited to photograph an expectant mother and family - especially when that family has been in front of my camera so many times.  This was one of those sessions.

In the belly, you see below, is Saoirse (SEER-sha) - named after the Irish word for Freedom.  In sort of an act of “freedom”, she arrived into our world just days after this session.

Since Mom has arranged for her to be photographed at special milestones, during her first 18 months, I will be meeting her very soon!
